About The Position

Our client is a nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm specializing in the design of technology and low-voltage systems for complex, mission-critical facilities. With offices across the United States, they partner with clients from initial planning and design through construction, commissioning, and project closeout. Their portfolio spans Aviation, Data Centers, Transportation, Government, Healthcare, Education, and Commercial markets, delivering innovative technology solutions for some of the country's most complex infrastructure projects. They are seeking a Senior ICT Designer to join their growing team. This is a fully remote position for candidates based in or around the Washington, DC metro area, supporting major aviation programs across the East Coast while also contributing to projects in Data Centers, Commercial, and Healthcare sectors.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing ICT, telecommunications, or structured cabling systems within an engineering consulting environment.
  • Experience leading projects within the Aviation sector is highly preferred.
  • Additional experience supporting Data Centers, Commercial, or Healthcare projects is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, structured cabling systems, pathways and spaces, and related ICT technologies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit/BIM experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and owners on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • BICSI RCDD preferred.
  • Additional industry certifications such as DCDC, CTS-D, or manufacturer certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Active participation in industry organizations is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and documentation of ICT and structured cabling systems for complex aviation projects across the East Coast.
  • Develop construction drawings, specifications, riser diagrams, and detailed design packages.
  • Serve as the technical lead throughout the design process, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Review designs and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, architects, MEP engineers, owners, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
  • Support projects from planning and concept development through construction administration and project closeout.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Design telecommunications infrastructure including structured cabling, backbone systems, pathways, spaces, outside plant, and related ICT systems.
  • Coordinate ICT designs with security, AV, wireless, DAS, and other low-voltage disciplines where required.
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations that align with client objectives and industry best practices.
  • Conduct site visits and support construction administration activities as needed.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to the development of design standards and best practices.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure technical excellence across project deliverables.
  • Stay current with emerging ICT technologies, manufacturer solutions, and industry standards.
