About The Position

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." Our Visual Designers weave space, typography, color, and iconography to help people successfully navigate our products, ensuring they are beautiful and accessible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to leverage user insights and create industry-leading products. As a Visual Designer, you will rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution. You will collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use. As a member of the Google Fonts team, you will advocate Google's goal for iconography. You will collaborate on the strategy and creative direction of Google's icon program for both UI icons and product logos. This involves drawing new icons and working with engineers and product teams across the company to elevate the user experience. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
6 years of visual design experience in product design or UX/UI design.
Experience in brand and icon design.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
2 years of experience leading design projects.
Experience with typography.

Responsibilities

Evolve Google's brand identity through iconography.
Collaborate closely and consult with teams across the company to foster creative alignment.
Draw icons and logos for exploration, creative direction setting, and execution.
Foster partner and stakeholder alignment by navigating requirements and feedback.
