About The Position

The Senior Demand Planning Business Partner plays a pivotal role in the development of accurate, actionable demand forecasts for the AB Retail business across crop protection, crop nutrition, and seed platforms. The role is responsible for managing demand planning activities for a defined group of markets and products within a highly seasonal, weather‑dependent environment. Working closely with Market Managers and cross‑functional partners, the Senior Demand Planning Business Partner translates statistical forecasts and historical data into clear demand recommendations, supports consensus‑building discussions, and ensures aligned demand signals are provided to supply planning and procurement teams. The role requires strong analytical skills, foundational business understanding, and effective communication to support the adoption of new planning tools and processes in a changing retail planning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training

Nice To Haves

  • APICS CPIM / CSCP Preferred, but not required
  • Experience in demand planning using advanced planning tools such as SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) or similar platforms is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with prior exposure to these tools will have an advantage in managing complex datasets, improving forecast accuracy, and supporting collaborative planning processes.
  • Familiarity with structured planning frameworks such as Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain demand plans using historical sales, statistical forecasts, seasonality, and market insights.
  • Analyze forecast exceptions and manual overrides, clearly communicating recommendations and risks to Market Managers in non‑technical terms.
  • Support alignment discussions when demand assumptions differ and escalate unresolved issues through established IBP and management forums.
  • Track forecast accuracy (MAPE, bias) and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
  • Partner with Sales, Supply Planning, and Procurement to ensure demand inputs are understood and reflected in downstream planning, escalating issues requiring management direction as appropriate.
  • Conduct demand alignment meetings for assigned divisions by preparing analysis, highlighting key risks and tradeoffs, and documenting agreed outcomes.
  • Lead scenario and what‑if analyses related to weather variability, promotional activity, allocation constraints, and market disruptions.
  • Quantify impacts to demand, inventory, and service levels, and present recommendations to support cross‑functional decision‑making.
  • Ensure continued technology maintenance and usability through close collaboration with Sr. IBP Analyst and T&DS.
