The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for leading administration and improvement of IBM i systems, Power Systems infrastructure, operational toolsets, and third-party applications, ensuring maximum reliability, performance, security, and availability for IBM i systems tied to core banking operations. This includes overseeing job scheduling, batch processing, backups, replication, high availability status, and workload completion. The role also involves supporting core banking applications and related operational functions, such as payment processing, file transmissions, interfaces, reporting, and daily processing activities. Additionally, the candidate will manage IBM i security administration, authority management, access controls, audit support, and remediation activities, direct troubleshooting, incident management, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective solutions for production events, and drive modernization efforts through process automation, scripting, standard operating procedures, documentation, and continuous improvement. The position also entails providing technical mentorship to team members while guiding operational priorities and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
5 or more years of advanced IBM i administration experience.
Demonstrated experience supporting IBM i platforms tied to banking solutions, financial cores, or other regulated, mission critical enterprise environments.
Hands on expertise with BRMS, MIMIX, backup and recovery operations, disaster recovery testing, and high availability architecture.
Working proficiency with CL, SQL, RPG, Ansible, APIs, or modern scripting and automation tools.

Responsibilities

Drive modernization efforts through process automation, scripting, standard operating procedures, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Provide technical mentorship to team members while guiding operational priorities and collaborating with cross functional stakeholders.
Actively support incidents, planned maintenance, disaster recovery exercises, and after hours support as needed.
Active participation in an on call rotation.
