I&IT leads the delivery of key strategic solutions to support the strategic and operational business needs of the Operations and Safety Divisions. This role is a key contributor to supporting bus operations and safety division priorities through the implementation of foundational and strategic projects that improve operational efficiency and address evolving Metrolinx transit customer needs.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or Business or equivalent
  • Demonstrated years Project Management preferably in the technology environments, Transit industry or the Public sector
  • Demonstrated experience with large complex transformational projects including implementation of both infrastructure/hardware and software solutions
  • Knowledge of program management, planning, budgeting, prioritization, risk and change management principles, methods, and techniques to manage the development, deployment, and implementation of large and mediu scale transit initiatives.
  • Effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills to articulate and present advice, options and recommendations to senior management and business clients on projects and technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides end to end project management services for I&IT projects and programs including responsibility for schedule management, financial accountability, project deliverables and communications. Inherent in the delivery of project management services is an understanding of the technical solutions that enable the business benefit.
  • Leads activities, resources, stakeholder and vendor relationships related to project scope, risk and issue management, and quality assurance to ensure projects deliver expected outcomes.
  • Delivers accurate forecasts and budgets by ensuring that all project cost and scheduled activities are identified, continuously monitored, and clarifications/changes managed properly to maintain adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Leads project issue and risk management, including recommendations for resolution and associated implications.
  • Leverages a comprehensive understanding of how the technical solution enables the business need to effectively and proactively steward workpackage delivery and assess workstream interdependencies.
  • Effectively communicates the appropriate level of project detail to a senior management and executive audience and confidently addresses questions regarding status and projected project outcomes.
  • Effectively operates in a matrix reporting relationship to lead a diverse resource team to deliver to schedule and budget.
