About The Position

Kelso Industries, a nationwide provider of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical solutions with over 3,500 employees across 29 operating companies, is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician. This role is crucial for our service team, focusing on complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization in commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and a history of delivering high-quality service.

Requirements

EPA 608 Universal Certification.
5 or more years of commercial HVAC experience
Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.
Comfortable working independently with limited oversight.
Valid driver's license in good standing.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

Experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms a plus.
Factory certifications or formal training on major chiller manufacturers.
Hands-on controls programming or commissioning background.
Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair all types of commercial HVAC equipment.
Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.
