About The Position

Stoa Group is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Specialist to join our growing Human Resources team. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role serves as a trusted resource for managers and employees by providing guidance on employee relations, policy interpretation, leave administration, workers' compensation, HR compliance, and the overall employee experience. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional who exercises sound judgment, builds strong relationships, communicates effectively, and understands how to balance employee experience with business needs. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by partnering with leaders, supporting employees throughout the employment lifecycle, and helping strengthen the Human Resources function as our organization continues to grow. This is an experienced individual contributor position based full-time in our Hammond, Louisiana Support Office. Remote and hybrid work are not available for this role.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Five (5) or more years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Experience supporting employee relations, workers' compensation, leave administration, FMLA, ADA accommodations, corrective action, onboarding, recruiting, and HR compliance.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Experience working in an HRIS environment; ADP Workforce Now experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Own the onboarding experience from accepted offer through new hire orientation, ensuring employees have a welcoming, organized, and consistent transition into the organization.
Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation while partnering with Payroll, Benefits, IT, hiring managers, and the Support Office to ensure employees are set up for success on day one.
Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruiting process, including job postings, candidate movement, interview coordination, offer preparation, and pre-employment activities.
Build trusted relationships with employees throughout the employment lifecycle by serving as a knowledgeable and approachable Human Resources resource.
Conduct exit interviews and identify trends that improve employee retention and the overall employee experience.
Serve as a resource for managers regarding employee concerns, policy interpretation, corrective action, workplace issues, and day-to-day HR guidance.
Build trusted relationships with managers by providing practical HR guidance, coaching, and support.
Coach managers through difficult employee conversations, documentation, and corrective action while balancing employee experience, legal compliance, and business needs.
Partner with managers in navigating employee issues by asking good questions, documenting key discussions, and ensuring appropriate follow-up and accountability.
Respond to employee concerns with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
Support employee documentation, corrective action, investigations, and employee separations.
Develop manager resources, tools, and guidance that promote consistent HR practices across the organization.
Serve as the Human Resources contact for workplace injuries, managing the workers' compensation process from initial incident through successful return-to-work.
Exercise sound judgment when determining first aid versus potential OSHA recordable incidents and coordinate post-incident drug testing when required.
Gather incident documentation, maintain accurate claim records, and partner with managers throughout the claims process.
Coordinate with employees, managers, Payroll & Benefits, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers throughout the workers' compensation process.
Partner with Payroll & Benefits regarding FMLA, ADA accommodations, leave administration, payroll impacts, and return-to-work planning.
Interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws while balancing compliance with practical business solutions.
Maintain accurate employee records and documentation within the HRIS.
Continuously evaluate HR processes, onboarding, manager resources, forms, communication, and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and the employee experience.
Assist with HR projects and initiatives that support organizational growth.
Protect confidential employee information while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
