About The Position

The Senior Human Resources Manager is a strategic, hands-on People leader responsible for overseeing all HR operations and directly leading the Human Resources and Training teams. This leader plays a critical role in shaping the team member experience from recruitment to onboarding, development, performance coaching, culture, and compliance-across multi-state operations. This role is ideal for an experienced HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment and can balance day-to-day execution with long-term organizational strategy. The Senior HR Manager serves as a trusted advisor to Operations, guiding leaders, strengthening systems, and ensuring our People practices reflect 7 Leaves' values and commitment to servant leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in HR management or People leadership, preferably in a multi-unit or multi-state environment.
  • Experience supervising HR and Training/L&D team members.
  • Demonstrated success managing investigations, employee relations, and developing effective HR policies.
  • Deep understanding of California labor law; experience with Nevada and Arizona is a plus.
  • Comfortable using HRIS systems (e.g., Paylocity) and LMS platforms to streamline processes and support learning initiatives.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and influencing abilities.
  • Able to build trust, model humility, and guide leaders through change.
  • High adaptability, sound judgment, and unwavering commitment to confidentiality.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification required; Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.

  • Background in hospitality, retail, or food & beverage industries.
  • Experience scaling HR processes, training programs, and People systems in a growing organization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • HR Operations, Compliance & Culture Stewardship Lead and mentor HR Managers, HR Specialists, and administrative team members.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (CA, NV, AZ).
  • Oversee investigations, corrective action, and sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Manage leaves of absence, ADA/FEHA accommodations, WC, and multi-state compliance.
  • Annually review, update, and communicate HR policies and the Employee Handbook.
  • Strengthen workplace culture emphasizing psychological safety, respect, and accountability.
  • Champion DEIB initiatives embedded into hiring, onboarding, development, and performance.
  • Training Department Leadership Lead Training managers responsible for curriculum development, onboarding, LMS management, and leadership pathways.
  • Ensure Training and HR operate as a unified People team with shared priorities.
  • Elevate new hire orientation, learning systems, and ongoing training for store, operations, and corporate teams.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Quality to ensure product mastery and service standards.
  • Build scalable leadership development programs for Supervisors, Managers, and District Managers.
  • Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Partnership Oversee hiring for corporate roles and store leadership to ensure fair, compliant, values-aligned selection.
  • Manage benefits administration, broker relationships, and open enrollment processes.
  • Partner with payroll to maintain accuracy and compliance in multi-state wage and hour practices.
  • Lead annual compensation review and salary band management to ensure equity and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with Finance & Operations on workforce planning, labor strategy, and retention initiatives.
  • Employee Relations, Performance Coaching & Culture Development Coach leaders on performance expectations, documentation, conflict resolution, and servant leadership.
  • Guide progressive discipline and terminations to ensure fairness and compliance.
  • Conduct exit interviews and synthesize insights to inform retention and cultural initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of honest feedback, strong communication, and continuous improvement.
  • People Data, Systems, Reporting & Cross-Functional Partnership Ensure HR data integrity and build dashboards to track turnover, retention, compliance, and workforce trends.
  • Leverage Paylocity and LMS systems to improve workflow, communication, and team member experience.
  • Use data to identify opportunities and provide insights to senior leadership.
  • Partner with Branding, Product, Training, and Operations on engagement programs and internal communication.
  • Serve as a People strategy leader contributing to organizational development and future growth planning.
