The Senior Human Resources Analyst will administer benefits, leaves, and HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy, warmth, and care. Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, public administration, business administration, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Three years of increasingly responsible professional human resources experience in benefits administration, leave administration, and/or human resource information systems, preferably in a public sector agency.
  • Ability to explain confusing policies to scared or stressed individuals and leave them calmer.
  • Love for clean datasets, smart workflows, and systems that function correctly.
  • Commitment to treating people’s private information with complete confidentiality.
  • Desire to become an expert in a specific area rather than a generalist.
  • Ability to lead and develop others, understanding that a supported team provides accurate, caring service at scale.
  • Practical approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Administering the City’s benefit programs (health, retirement, and related plans), including open enrollment, life events, and vendor coordination.
  • Administering and coordinating employee leaves, such as FMLA/CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, and coordinating with worker's compensation.
  • Guiding the interactive process for accommodations and disability-related leave.
  • Expanding wellness and financial security programming.
  • Strengthening the City’s HRIS and benefits administration platform, focusing on data integrity, automation, and paperless workflows with human review.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and providing clear recommendations to leadership.
  • Catching data mismatches in the HRIS before they impact employee paychecks.
  • Explaining complex policies like FMLA, CFRA, and disability leave to employees.
  • Coaching team members through tricky situations and ensuring they have the resources to support employees.
  • Participating in the interactive process for reasonable accommodations.
  • Planning for open enrollment and coordinating with vendors.
  • Automating administrative processes and implementing review checkpoints.
