About The Position

The Sr. HR Generalist (People Consultant) is a trusted partner to employees, managers, and HR leadership. This role provides expert guidance in employee relations, performance management, and people programs while supporting Qualys’ culture, compliance requirements, and business goals. This position blends hands-on employee relations across all functions with people-partner support for an assigned business area to drive engagement, compliance, and performance.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in Employee Relations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law; CA and multi‑state preferred; international a plus.
  • Experience leading complex ER investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to align people strategy to operations.
  • Excellent communication skills for sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment with competing priorities.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to Qualys’ IMPACT principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on policies, performance expectations, conflict resolution, and early‑intervention strategies.
  • Serve as the primary HR advisor for an assigned business function, supporting policies, performance, engagement, and people programs.
  • Coach managers on communication, conflict resolution, performance management, and early intervention.
  • Partner with leaders to address engagement, culture, and retention opportunities; drive change management considering employee impact.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees at all levels on engagement, conflict, and career development.
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence (COEs). to ensure a seamless and comprehensive employee lifecycle experience, from onboarding through offboarding, including comp shared services, training.
  • Lead investigations involving conduct, performance, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations, including interviews, evidence review, documentation, and findings.
  • Participate in disciplinary meetings, performance discussions, terminations, and other sensitive interactions while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Identify ER risks and escalate issues presenting legal or reputational exposure in partnership with HR, Legal, and Compliance.
  • Maintain accurate, audit‑ready ER case documentation aligned with compliance and confidentiality standards.
  • Analyze ER and people trends to inform policy updates, training, engagement strategies, and organizational improvements.
  • Influence leader decision‑making to reduce people‑related risks and strengthen performance, culture, and communication.
  • Support core HR programs including performance cycles, promotions, DE&I, compensation cycles, merit reviews, and talent development.
  • Conduct exit interviews, identify themes, and recommend organizational improvements.
  • Assess team climate and engagement regularly and recommend actions to improve employee experience.
