About The Position

Ferguson is looking for a dynamic Senior HR Generalist to join our Distribution Center team in Fort Payne, AL. In this highly visible role, you’ll partner directly with site leadership to shape the associate experience, drive business results, and support two key operations—our Fort Payne DC and Fulton, MS pipe yard and fabrication site. This is an onsite opportunity at our Fort Payne Distribution Center with travel to the Fulton Pipe Yard once a month.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 2 years supporting site operations as an HR Manager or Business Partner
  • Strong background in industrial or distribution environments with large hourly populations
  • Experience supporting union avoidance strategies
  • Proven ability to influence leaders, build trust, and drive accountability
  • Experience with HR systems (Workday preferred) and Microsoft tools

Responsibilities

  • Align site practices with Ferguson’s broader HR strategy—ensuring consistency, scalability, and impact across locations
  • Work side-by-side with site leaders to implement HR programs that directly support operational goals and performance
  • Ensure fair, consistent performance management and lead efforts around talent development, workforce planning, and engagement
  • Partner with recruiting and shared services to deliver strong hiring outcomes, onboarding experiences, and ongoing development
  • Support annual cycles including performance management, compensation planning, and talent reviews
  • Deliver and coordinate training across leadership, compliance, and associate development topics
  • Conduct investigations, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to all federal and state employment laws
  • Promote a positive, engaging, and legally compliant workplace where associates can do their best work
