About The Position

The Senior HR Generalist will support the full employment lifecycle of Texas McCombs staff members through daily operations and implementation of strategic priorities. Reporting to the HR Director, this position will serve as a trusted advisor to staff members and contribute to an environment of continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of progressive Human Resources responsibilities
  • Excellent knowledge of human resources laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Demonstrated success as a customer service-oriented team player
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to both create strong rapport with, and successfully advise, staff members at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to manage projects, improve processes and lead projects to completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and applications in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with confidential information and providing support to customers using discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM or PHR certification.
  • Experience with human resources in a university environment or similarly matrixed organization.
  • Experience with Workday and comfort learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation, coaching and partnership to Texas McCombs managers, departments, and leadership on HR operations, including performance management, staffing needs and recruitment activities, position development, and classification reviews in accordance with University policies and procedures, Texas McCombs practices as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Manage approval processes and a high volume of electronic business processes in Workday that encompass the full staff and recruiting lifecycle.
  • Review timesheets and coordinate extended leaves in accordance with McCombs practices and University policy as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate and administer University policies, regularly respond to employee inquiries regarding all aspects of employment, and provide referrals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Partner with Texas McCombs stakeholders to design and deliver manager learning and development programs that align with School and University strategic goals and foster an environment of continuous learning.
  • Support the Texas McCombs Annual Staff Awards recognition event and other key McCombs HR activities related to faculty and student employment.
  • Other duties as assigned
