Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 9 years of applicable work experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 years of applicable work experience, or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of experience in setting up and running real-time digital simulators to perform HIL simulations.
Expertise creating detailed models of battery energy storage systems, generators, power electronics converters, gas turbines, and electrical networks and components.
3+ years working with RSCAD, PSCAD and other simulation tools.
Working knowledge of three phase power system operation and power flow.
Knowledge of inverter operation and control.
Experience with PLC programming (structured text, ladder logic).

Nice To Haves

Experience with Schweitzer RTAC devices
Experience using medium voltage equipment such as inverters and transformers.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems and integrate physical devices (relays, controllers, meters)
Develop real-time simulation models for equipment including battery, generators, inverters, PV, transformers, and electric grid.
Perform simulation studies to investigate interactions between different generation resources and hardware components.
Design and implement control algorithms in IEC 61131 based languages (e.g. structured text, function blocks) for Power Plant Controller to control entire power plant in off-grid or grid connected operations.
Perform system commissioning, testing and validation.
Maintain excellent documentation capturing controller designs, project timelines and presentations for stakeholder communication.
Interface with program management, project management and project engineer to help deliver controls functionality and performance according to the project specifications.
Deliver quality products to market with understanding and respect for all phases of the product development process, especially requirements, specification development, and release control.
