About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join their Highway & Rail Team in Rocky Hill, CT. This role involves leading the technical direction on impactful transportation projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and delivering innovative roadway solutions that enhance safety, connectivity, and long-term community growth. The position offers an opportunity to influence major highway initiatives and share expertise with junior engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience required
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
CTDOT experience required
Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) as well as Microsoft Office
Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred
Project and client management experience highly desired
Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Responsibilities

Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for highway and rail projects
Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projects
Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions
Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support
Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies
