About The Position

ECG, a leading healthcare consulting firm with over 50 years of experience, is seeking a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst to join its growing Analytics Hub. This role will collaborate with consulting teams to deliver insights, analysis, and intelligence to healthcare clients, aiding leadership in making informed decisions across various strategic and operational areas. The position leverages a Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environment, with a focus on enhancing existing infrastructure and implementing new technologies. The ideal candidate is adaptable, skilled at multitasking, and proficient in implementing new solutions. ECG's approach combines qualitative findings with data-driven strategic, operational, and financial considerations to create practical, tailored solutions for clients, enabling them to pursue realistic and impactful change.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of and passion for the healthcare industry
  • A bachelor’s degree in either computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, statistics, health information management, or a related degree that relies heavily on critical thinking, logic, and math
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics, including analyzing clinical, operational, financial, or population health data
  • Experience in healthcare consulting, healthcare technology, or working for a hospital or health system, using data to deliver actionable insights and recommendations
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis, reporting, dashboard development, and translating complex data into actionable business insights
  • Advanced skills in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); experience with Python, R, Databricks, or Azure is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Experience working with healthcare datasets such as claims, EHRs, patient outcomes, quality metrics, or value-based care programs is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gather and synthesize data from various sources (e.g., national surveys, proprietary research, client interviews, industries, markets).
  • Prepare analyses related to hospital inpatient databases and provider claims data.
  • Build flexible, dynamic, and scalable financial and operational models to forecast trends, preparing scenarios for consulting efforts related to delivery and business development (e.g., strategic planning, operational improvement, market assessments).
  • Enhance existing models and capabilities built using SQL, primarily, with some use of Python or R in certain models or scenarios.
  • Perform complex analyses on big data, including cleaning, preparing, and interpreting.
  • Identify and execute analyses in response to consultant business intelligence inquiries.
  • Build relational databases using a Microsoft SQL Server or Fabric.
  • Communicate market insights to pursuit teams, and support business development efforts.
  • Configure, maintain, and build flexible reports, queries, and visuals within the Power BI environment and the production and development environments of related databases.
  • Research, test, and implement solutions in Power BI.
  • Partner with various consulting units (Strategy & Enterprise Growth, Payer Strategy & Contracting, Health System Performance, and Medical Group Optimization) to gather requirements related to data analytics.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain interfaces to exchange data among Power BI, SQL databases, and other cloud-based applications.
  • Create and maintain analytical support documentation and operating procedures.
  • Develop new and innovative methodologies and approaches.
  • Contribute to internal education and learning opportunities for consultants and operations members for the Analytics Hub and analytics in general, and support education about ECG’s use cases related to analytics.
  • Assist the vice president of data analytics and AI in developing analytics and data strategy to support data analytics capabilities at the firm.
