About The Position

Under direction, the Senior Health Program Coordinator supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for contracted and/or county operated health programs and services, including but not limited to staff supervision, program development and implementation, program monitoring and evaluation, and coordination of services; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the most technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Techniques of contract negotiation and monitoring
  • Social, economic, cultural and other issues impacting program area
  • Theories, principals, goals, and objectives of public health and primary care programs
  • Principles, practices, funding sources, laws and regulations, and administrative requirements in the program area to which assigned
  • Principles, practices and techniques of program planning, development and evaluation
  • Principles and procedures of budget preparation and monitoring, including budgets involving grants, contracted services, and state and federal funding
  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff, and/or preceptors
  • Plan, coordinate, assign, and review the work of subordinate staff
  • Investigate and resolve disciplinary issues
  • Work independently, prioritize work, coordinate activities and meet critical deadlines
  • Monitor and interpret budgets and other financial documents
  • Develop and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with others
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Apply customer service skills, including the identification of customer needs and follow up to ensure customer commitments have been met
  • Collect and compile a variety of data and information
  • Maintain accurate records and files
  • Represent the department and/or the County of Sacramento
  • Analyze and evaluate data and information, and make appropriate recommendations
  • Five (5) years of full-time professional paid journey-level experience in a relevant health field, which has included program coordination, or lead, or supervision of program staff or operations.
