About The Position

Analyze, design, implement, and evaluate information and communication systems that enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care, and increase health data interoperability across care continuum. Lead informatics projects, coordinating with internal and external partners, adopt and maintain general understanding of new/relevant informatics methods and advances in the field. Train informatics system users; test system usability, quality and integrity of data, perform data exports and reporting while looking for opportunities to automate these processes, evaluate usage and assess overall efficiency of collecting, analyzing, and reporting electronic data. Develop, assess, and iterate on data collection, reporting techniques, and use of information to improve population health outcomes and conduct data analysis to meet project and grant requirements, guide junior team members in conducting such analysis. Explore and recommend informatics ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems. Serve as a lead informatics subject matter expert, supporting deliverable execution for the system as a whole. Collaborate with internal project management and business/product owners to develop actionable strategies for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, Bioengineering, or closely related field.
  • One year of experience in healthcare data warehousing, electronic medical records, health informatics, and/or data preparation and analysis.
  • Knowledge in applying controlled medical terminologies in at least two of the four primary terminologies (SNOMEDCT, LOINC, CPT, ICD-10).
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiarity with R, RStudio, or Python.
  • Knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI, or QuickSight.
  • Knowledge of clinical information systems.
  • Technical abilities in common U.S. electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to resolve complex data questions through effective data analysis.
  • Knowledge of interoperability and health data standards.
  • Background in clinical research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with creating and interpreting analytical visualizations.
  • Familiarity with leading visualization projects.
