About The Position

This is a professional position responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and delivering health promotion and health education, particularly academic detailing. Academic detailing is peer-to-peer educational outreach. The goals of academic detailing have traditionally been to improve clinical practice in a targeted area, usually one involving patient care. This position is under the direct supervision of the Health Services Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Private vehicle to perform work related duties.
  • Experience in public speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Visit private practices to educate on routine HIV screening.
  • Obtain verbal or signed agreements (PrEP/nPEP/HIV testing/STD/Referral).
  • Recruit and expand PrEP/nPEP providers in Miami Dade County.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance long-term collaborative provider relationships.
  • Increase awareness regarding HIV case data for Miami Dade, PrEP/nPEP effectiveness and utilization, and routinized testing.
  • Provide protocol development workshops to recruited private practices to help with implementing several different HIV services: such as, routine HIV testing ('opt out' HIV testing), Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and Test and Treat Rapid Access (TTRA) ('rapid treatment').
  • Serve as a resource for participating agencies and clients; keeping an updated directory of available services in the targeted areas; becoming an HIV/AIDS service referral source for people in need; enhancing the STDHIV/AIDS prevention and education activities within that specific target areas and priority populations.
  • Assist in additional office related activities and duties assigned, including the volunteer program.
  • Participation in the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade activities including Test Miami and National Days of HIV Observance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
