Senior Hardware Engineer

Ottawa InfotainmentOttawa, ON

About The Position

At Ottawa Infotainment, we’re building the next generation of intelligent vehicle platforms: rethinking the digital cockpit through high-performance compute, embedded software, safety-critical systems, and AI-driven experiences. We are not a traditional Tier 1. We move fast, own the stack, and solve hard problems at the intersection of embedded systems, automotive electronics, and product engineering. If you want to help design hardware that ships into production vehicles, this is your role. We’re looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to help architect and develop next-generation automotive compute platforms powering DragonFire OS and future centralized vehicle architectures. This role is focused on production-quality embedded hardware for automotive and safety-critical applications, from concept through manufacturing launch. You’ll work on high-performance compute systems based on NXP i.MX and Texas Instruments platforms, helping define the electrical foundations of next-generation software-defined vehicles.

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing complex embedded hardware systems
  • Experience with NXP i.MX, Texas Instruments, or similar automotive SoCs
  • Deep understanding of automotive electronics development and production processes
  • Familiarity with functional safety concepts and ISO 26262 development workflows
  • Experience with high-speed digital design, power architecture, and board layout reviews
  • Hands-on lab debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, power analyzers, and related tools
  • Understanding of automotive communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, LIN, and automotive networking
  • Experience supporting hardware from prototype through production launch
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving startup environments with high ownership

Nice To Haves

  • ASIL development experience
  • Hypervisor or multi-domain compute architectures
  • Audio, display, or graphics hardware systems
  • Automotive cybersecurity architectures
  • Camera, sensor fusion, or AI edge compute systems
  • EMC/EMI certification and validation experience

Responsibilities

  • Design automotive-grade embedded hardware platforms and ECUs
  • Develop production-ready schematics and system architectures using NXP i.MX and Texas Instruments processors
  • Support high-speed interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, USB, MIPI, CAN, and display systems
  • Lead board bring-up, validation, debugging, and hardware integration activities
  • Collaborate closely with embedded software, systems, mechanical, and HMI teams
  • Support BSP integration and low-level hardware/software interactions
  • Develop hardware for multi-OS and safety-critical environments including QNX, Linux, Android, and RTOS platforms
  • Participate in EMC, thermal, power integrity, signal integrity, and reliability validation
  • Contribute to hardware architectures aligned with ISO 26262 and automotive functional safety requirements
  • Work with manufacturing partners on DFM, DFT, prototype builds, and production readiness
  • Help define next-generation centralized compute and domain controller platforms

Benefits

  • Build foundational vehicle technology, not commodity hardware
  • Help shape products from architecture to production
  • Join a small elite team doing Tier-1 caliber work with startup velocity
  • Work directly on software-defined vehicle platforms shipping into real programs
  • Be part of a company rethinking the future of automotive electronics and intelligent mobility
