About The Position

This role will lead and develop a high-performing sourcing team while shaping and executing sourcing strategies across Starbucks’ supply chain network. The responsibilities include transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution center operations, ocean transportation and related supply chain services. The role requires partnering across Supply Chain, Global Logistics, Distribution Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal and Operations to build a resilient, scalable and cost-effective supply chain that supports enterprise growth, service and responsible business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, operations or a related field preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, logistics, supply chain or procurement experience
  • 5+ years leading sourcing or supply chain teams
  • Experience negotiating complex transportation, warehousing and logistics agreements
  • Experience managing executive-level supplier relationships

  • Supply Chain & Logistics Expertise – Deep knowledge of transportation networks, FTL, LTL, ocean transportation / OTW, warehousing, distribution center operations, 3PL services, carrier economics, logistics cost drivers and supply chain risk mitigation.
  • Sourcing Foundations – Expert knowledge of category strategies, supplier relationship management, risk management, RFX processes, market analysis, should-cost models, commercial negotiations and standard legal protections.
  • Strategic Supplier Management – Builds executive supplier relationships and uses operating KPIs, scorecards, QBRs and governance to improve cost, service, quality, sustainability, innovation and risk performance.

  • Direct sourcing experience across FTL, LTL, ocean freight / OTW, warehousing, distribution centers, 3PL services, freight audit and payment, and customs and trade services
  • Experience supporting large-scale retail, consumer products, food and beverage, manufacturing or distribution network
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems, warehouse management systems and logistics analytic
  • CPSM, CSCP, CLTD or similar professional certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop sourcing talent – Inspire, coach and develop partners through clear expectations, meaningful goals and purposeful performance and development conversations. Build organizational capability in strategic sourcing, logistics, negotiations, supplier management and industry knowledge.
  • Set enterprise supply chain sourcing strategy – Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution center operations and enabling supply chain services. Align sourcing plans with network design, service levels, capacity requirements and growth objectives.
  • Lead transportation and global logistics sourcing – Build carrier and logistics-provider strategies across FTL, LTL, dedicated fleet, intermodal, freight brokerage, parcel and expedited services, ocean transportation / OTW, NVOCC and order management, and customs and trade services. Balance cost, service, capacity, coverage, continuity and risk.
  • Lead distribution, warehousing and 3PL sourcing – Source distribution centers, regional distribution centers, cross-dock operations, warehouse operations, material handling services, inventory management solutions and third-party logistics services. Support facility transitions, expansions and network transformations.
  • Drive strategic supplier management – Build executive relationships with critical logistics suppliers; establish commercial models, operating KPIs and scorecards; lead QBRs and performance governance; and drive supplier innovation, continuous improvement, remediation and escalation.
  • Architect value, resilience and responsible growth – Deliver savings, cost avoidance, productivity and total delivered cost improvements while protecting service and operational continuity. Incorporate contingency planning, risk mitigation, sustainability, supplier diversity and corporate social responsibility into sourcing decisions.
  • Lead commercial and cross-functional execution – Lead complex RFXs, negotiations and contracting. Develop robust business cases and answer-first executive recommendations. Partner across operations, finance, legal and supply chain, and ensure legal and operational compliance.
