About The Position

Mikros Animation is a global CGI animation studio dedicated to feature films and episodic content. This role is for an expression of interest, as positions are anticipated to open in the coming weeks. The Senior Groom Artist, under the supervision of the Character Supervisor and Groom Lead/Supervisor, will be responsible for providing hair descriptions for production assets, adhering to internal technical workflows and the artistic vision of the project. This involves grooming, setting up, and potentially shading hair for 3D animated characters, animals, and props, ensuring technical compliance with the production pipeline. The artist will also contribute to tool development, problem-solving, and collaboration with other departments, while meeting deadlines and executing requested corrections.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Blender
  • Proficiency in Geometry Nodes
  • Experience with Geometry Nodes, Particle System Grooming / Surfacing / Shading
  • Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment

Nice To Haves

  • Skills in Modeling / Rigging
  • Experience with Python

Responsibilities

  • Groom, setup and shade the hair of assets based on concept art and model sheets.
  • Create Hair effects on 3D animated characters, animals and props by referring to the artistic direction of the project.
  • Ensure delivered assets are technically compliant with the production pipeline and workflow.
  • Be involved in the development of tools used in the department.
  • Solve problems creatively.
  • Collaborate with modeling, rigging and surfacing in order to meet the technical requirements of each department.
  • Meet the deadlines, timing and production quotas provided by the production coordinator.
  • Execute the corrections requested by the Supervisor and the Director.
  • Organize the workload and prepare presentations elements for approval.
  • Communicate and seek information when necessary.
  • Maintain a good team dynamic.
