About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Graphic Designer with deep experience in SCADA/HMI environments to lead the design of complex, data-rich operator interfaces. This role blends visual design, UX strategy, and front-end awareness to deliver high-performance, operator-centered systems. You will play a key role in shaping design standards, mentoring team members, and driving consistency across projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8 years of experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces.
  • At least 1 year of SCADA, HMI, or industrial application design experience.
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end UI/UX design, from discovery through implementation.
  • Strong experience in information architecture, workflow design, and design systems.
  • Proficiency in CSS architecture and scalable theming strategies.
  • Familiarity with alarms, trends, and navigation patterns in SCADA systems.
  • Experience mentoring designers and providing structured feedback.
  • Proficiency with Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, or similar tools.
  • Advanced expertise in SCADA UX patterns and operational interface design.
  • Strong ability to build scalable design systems and reusable UI patterns.
  • Excellent visual QA and design validation capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of SCADA platform constraints and practical implementation considerations.
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering and technical leadership.
  • Ability to drive standardization across design language, processes, and deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of ISA-101, ISA-18.2, ISA-5.1, ASM Consortium guidelines, and WCAG 2.2.
  • Expertise in design token systems and multi-theme architectures.
  • Experience with usability testing methods such as task-based testing, think-aloud protocols, and SUS scoring.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced training or demonstrated expertise in design systems, usability, or front-end implementation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for major SCADA projects, including layout strategy, navigation models, and interaction patterns.
  • Define and maintain the core CSS style library, including design tokens, themes, and reusable utilities.
  • Conduct structured design feasibility reviews to ensure concepts align with SCADA platform capabilities and performance constraints.
  • Own front-end design verification for critical screens and document defects.
  • Mentor junior designers on SCADA UX patterns, design best practices, and basic implementation concepts.
  • Collaborate with SCADA and engineering leads to plan work, identify risks, and align design milestones with delivery schedules.
  • Drive consistency across projects through shared component libraries, standards, and design handoff practices.
  • Establish and evolve standards for screen density, information hierarchy, accessibility, and operator workflows.
  • Govern design token architecture, including primitive, semantic, and component-level tokens across themes.
  • Manage design library publishing workflows, including versioning, release notes, and migration guidance.
  • Apply ISA-101 and ASM Consortium high-performance HMI principles across all designs.
  • Lead usability testing and operator research initiatives, including protocol design, execution, and findings synthesis.
