About The Position

The Senior Grants Officer is responsible for the engagement, cultivation and solicitation of potential funders to support the mission of University Hospitals. The major focus of their fundraising efforts is securing grants from foundation, corporate and government funders at the major gift ($100,000+) level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Five to eight years of demonstrated consistent closing of six and seven figure grants or significant (10+ years) related experience managing relationships that produce measurable results (i.e. sales experience)
  • Knowledge and experience in securing grant funding from national foundation and government funders
  • Must have prolific results in meeting/exceeding established goals
  • Must have impeccable writing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to lead through collaboration/alignment of key stakeholders
  • Strong team/partnership skills required
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of high level prospects with a high degree of results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute major gift fundraising strategies in alignment with the research priorities of University Hospitals to maximize philanthropic results
  • Identify, engage, cultivate and solicit prospective funders to University Hospitals
  • Track, review and interpret requests for proposals and funding guidelines from foundations, corporations and government agencies to determine if appropriate for UH and how best to respond and comply
  • Provide timely research and information on funding opportunities to match UH’s priorities, requirements; and procedures; collaborate in defining and implementing project funding strategies
  • Work with UH faculty and staff to develop programs in response to funding opportunities and identified institutional needs
  • Develop, write, edit, and submit grant applications to foundation, corporate and government funders in coordination with physician and/or project teams
  • Monitor post-award grant compliance
  • Lead the stewardship of grants from foundation and government funders and prepare all grant reports in a timely manner as required by funders and in alignment with IR&D stewardship policies & protocols
  • Effectively lead and ensure alignment of key stakeholders, both internal and external, in support of grant funded initiatives
  • Appropriately steward assigned funders in alignment with IR&D stewardship policies & protocols
  • Meet or exceed annual visitation, solicitation and attainment goals as defined in collaboration with IR&D and University Hospitals
  • Actively participate in UH IR&D development activities
  • Lead special projects as assigned and approved by IR&D and University Hospitals
  • Serve as a mentor and provide strategic guidance to Development Officers and other team members as appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
