About The Position

This role ensures the proper recording and reporting of various financial transactions for the Association and government lines of business. The analyst will communicate with other F&A staff and internal departments to record and reconcile financial data. Key responsibilities include preparing and posting accruals, researching and resolving complex accounting issues, leading accounting activities for government programs, maintaining schedules and ledgers, and creating ad-hoc system reports. The position also involves designing, developing, and implementing standard plans or provider financial and operational reports, leading internal controls and risk management, facilitating data requirements, defining data assembly methods, and maintaining documentation. The analyst will analyze complex financial data, present findings to management, own reporting processes, and recommend reporting enhancements. Additionally, the role involves leading and coordinating projects, functioning as a project manager, documenting project activities, and developing workflow processes. A significant part of the role is validating and maintaining data quality, identifying and resolving potential problems, evaluating root causes of issues, and proposing resolutions to management. The analyst will also develop, analyze, recommend, and monitor reimbursement and provider contracting strategies, and prepare reports on their effectiveness. Finally, the role includes performing other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects and assignments with formatted output, narrative and data interpretation.
  • Financial Skills: Demonstrated ability to prepare financial analyses and cost-benefit studies with design requirements, output format and analysis of results.
  • Accounting Skills: Demonstrated ability to properly record financial transactions and prepare financial statements.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong oral and written skills for presentation to Executive staff.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Database manipulation software familiarity or relevant experience with data entry

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper recording and reporting of various financial transactions for the Association and government lines of business.
  • Communicate with other F&A staff and internal departments to record and reconcile financial data.
  • Prepare and post accruals for various general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Develop estimates for accruals as needed by using source documentation and settlements amounts.
  • Resolve discrepancies with appropriate staff/departments timely.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve complex accounting issues, unusual transactions, and significant reconciliation variances.
  • Lead accounting activities associated with government programs including Medicare, Medicaid, Federal Programs, and other assigned initiatives.
  • Maintain various schedules and ledgers for the Association's general ledger accounts, including special reserves, state risk sharing receivables, etc.
  • Create and run ad-hoc system reports to summarize transactions in the general ledger.
  • Perform research and initiate adjustments if errors are identified.
  • Design, develop, and implement standard plans or provider financial and operational reports in response to customer requirements and business needs.
  • Lead and implement financial internal controls and risk management.
  • Facilitate definition of data and other information requirements.
  • Define efficient data assembly methods.
  • Maintain adequate documentation for general reference and audit purposes.
  • Analyze complex financial and operational data and present findings, risks, and recommendations to management.
  • Own assigned reporting processes and ensure timely, accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Recommend and implement reporting enhancements and process efficiencies.
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in projects; function as project manager and leader for business and system projects.
  • Facilitate definition of project requirements and deliverables.
  • Influence the progress of team activities and the successful implementation of the project.
  • Document and share project activities, analyses, and decisions.
  • Develop, analyze, recommend, and enhance workflow processes related to project deliverables.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions/decisions in light of the potential impact on internal/external resources.
  • Understand the resource implications of solutions and make other potential recommendations.
  • Validate and maintain quality and consistency of data and reporting.
  • Proactively identify and isolate potential problems and work with staff within and outside of the department to develop and implement resolutions.
  • Develop and communicate data adjustments and workarounds.
  • Evaluate root causes of data and reporting issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Propose resolutions to management to clearly define the increase in value and productivity associated with the changes.
  • Develop, analyze, recommend, and monitor reimbursement and provider contracting strategies.
  • Prepare reports that measure the effectiveness of reimbursement and contracting terms and the influence they may have on overall program/plan cost and utilization.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
