This role supports NOAA NMFS cloud modernization initiatives through Google Cloud architecture, migration, DevSecOps, and data engineering. The Senior Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Engineer will lead enterprise Google Cloud Platform engineering, cloud migration, Kubernetes, data platforms, security, and Agile delivery supporting Federal scientific workloads.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years cloud experience including 5+ years GCP.
• Professional Cloud Architect or Data Engineer certification.
• Experience with GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Python or Go.
• Experience with FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53.
• Eligible for Public Trust.
• US Citizenship required.

• NOAA or Federal civilian experience.
• Vertex AI, Apigee, Cloud Composer.
• AWS/Azure hybrid cloud.
• Dataplex and data governance.
• NetCDF, GeoTIFF, HDF5 experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead GCP migration and modernization initiatives.
• Design landing zones, VPCs, and enterprise cloud architecture.
• Build data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines with Cloud Build and GitHub Actions.
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform.
• Deploy GKE, Cloud Run, and containerized services.
• Implement FedRAMP/FISMA security controls.
• Support ATO documentation and Agile delivery.
