About The Position

Milestone’s Arcules team is developing the future of intelligent security systems — a scalable, device-agnostic, cloud-first platform that empowers customers to understand and anticipate their environments with ease. We are looking for a Senior Go Software Engineer to help shape a cloud-first platform used across the US to deliver responsible, device-agnostic security solutions. You will design and build enterprise-scale distributed systems with a People First mindset, empowering organizations to simplify complexity and make informed decisions through responsible AI. This fully remote position welcomes candidates from any US location and centers ethics, inclusion, and togetherness as core values. Requirements

  • Proficient in developing and maintaining software using Go or other compiled languages, with experience designing scalable and maintainable systems.
  • Experience implementing microservice architecture and applying software design patterns to support maintainability and scalability.
  • Knowledge of data structures, data modeling, and system design for cloud-based applications.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in distributed computing environments.
  • Skill in mentoring engineers and promoting effective software engineering practices, including formal testing and clean code principles.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product managers and technology teams to understand roadmap priorities and shape product features that address customers' needs.
  • Employ advanced knowledge of data structures, data modeling and design, and common software design patterns with a focus on microservice architecture.
  • Articulate design and architecture trade-offs and apply software design patterns to solve complex engineering problems efficiently.
  • Guide design and implementation based on sound engineering principles and best practices, focusing on testability, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Provide overall project design and estimates that meet business and technology strategy needs during project scoping phases.
  • Mentor other engineers to make sound technical decisions and help build effective software engineering practices, especially in adopting formal testing.
  • Promote good software engineering habits such as clean code principles, security, tech debt balance, TDD, and "going end-to-end early".
  • Own, diagnose, and resolve complex system technical issues and code defects.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to help establish the technical roadmap and facilitate innovation.
  • Identify and work with SRE to implement automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and reliability in the software delivery cycle.
