About The Position

The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. As a Senior Global Supply Manager, you will serve as a key individual contributor responsible for the end-to-end sourcing strategy and lifecycle management for our vehicle programs. You will navigate complex sourcing projects, concurrently leading efforts with medium to large spend while supporting the execution of multi-generational vehicle strategies. In this role, you will drive the competitive bid process with moderate leadership oversight, proactively identifying system efficiencies and refining enterprise functionality to improve procurement speed and accuracy. You are expected to negotiate most commercial terms of a contract, close cost gaps using industry intelligence, and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 suppliers to protect Rivian’s financial and production interests. This onsite position is located in Irvine, CA, with multiple openings available across four distinct teams within the Interiors & Exteriors department. Depending on your skills and experience, this role will report directly to the Group Manager for one of the following areas: Interiors, Seating & Restraints, Exteriors & Lighting, or Closures.

  • Proficient in SAP, Basecamp, and using cost estimating outputs to close should-cost gaps.
  • Professional interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to defuse conflicts and provide feedback to peers.
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope, evaluating identifiable factors to find solutions and exercising good judgment.
  • Comfortable receiving general instructions on new assignments and managing day-to-day work with independence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed based on business needs, expected to average between 10-25%.

Responsibilities

  • Concurrently lead projects with medium to large vehicle spend for one of the following commodity teams; Interiors, Seating & Restraints, Exteriors & Lighting, or Closures, supporting the execution of a multi-generational vehicle strategy. • Effectively use supply chain systems to support business needs, including placing RFI/RFPs and purchase orders timely and accurately. Proactively identify and provide feedback on system functionality to drive process improvement.
  • Lead supplier prospecting and drive a commodity strategy that supports the vehicle program. Monitor economic, political, and technology landscapes with some direction to prevent risks.
  • Negotiate most commercial terms and LTAs with some legal involvement. Use cost estimating outputs to close "should cost" gaps and identify areas of opportunity or risk with some leadership oversight.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Tier 1 account and program managers. Maintain a basic understanding of the sub-supplier footprint and raw material drivers for your assigned commodity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders while managing expectations. Inform appropriate teams to provide detailed forecasting and costs that support long-term plans.
