Senior Geotechnical Field Technician
About The Position
Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking a full-time experienced Senior Geotechnical Field Technician for their Alliance, OH office. Qualified candidates must have prior construction inspection experience and relevant industry certifications. This position involves observing and documenting construction activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications, monitoring and testing soil moisture and density, and testing concrete and asphalt. The role also includes assisting laboratory and drilling personnel, effectively using civil drawings and project specifications, completing daily reports, and maintaining company equipment. The workday begins at 7 am with likely overtime, and mileage reimbursement is provided. A reliable vehicle, good driving record, and valid driver's license are required. The position requires the physical capability to carry equipment and samples over uneven ground, and a high school diploma/GED with good writing and math skills.
Requirements
- Prior construction inspection experience
- Relevant industry certifications (NICET, ACI, APNGA, NETTCP, ICC, FPO)
- Reliable vehicle, good driving record and valid driver's license
- Physical capability to carry equipment/samples >50 lbs on uneven ground
- High school diploma/GED with good writing and math skills
- Ability to use hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit, see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus.
- Regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds; and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).

Responsibilities
- Observe and document construction activities to assure compliance with technical specifications
- Monitor and test the moisture and density of soils using a nuclear density testing gauge
- Testing of concrete for slump, air content and unit weight
- Testing of asphalt for temperature and compaction
- Assist laboratory and drilling personnel as requested
- Use civil drawings, project specifications and geotechnical reports effectively
- Complete daily reports, testing documents, timesheets and expense reports completely and in a timely manner
- Handle and maintain company assigned equipment
