Your Contribution As a Specialist Geotechnical, you will provide technical expertise in analyzing, designing, and managing geotechnical risks across operations and studies to support safe, sustainable, and efficient mining production. You will play a key role in geotechnical design, risk assessment, mine planning support, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with technical teams across operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering within mining operations, mine planning, consulting, or project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting geotechnical investigations, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience identifying geotechnical risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of slope stability, ground support systems, rock mechanics, and mine design principles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply geotechnical data to support operational and project decisions.
  • Experience developing technical recommendations and communicating findings to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of surface water management, dewatering, and depressurization.
  • Experience with geotechnical monitoring systems, instrumentation, and data interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of geotechnical modeling and analysis methodologies, including kinematic, limit equilibrium, and/or numerical modeling.
  • Understanding of drill and blast impacts on slope performance and final wall damage control.
  • Experience providing geotechnical input into mine planning, design optimization, and operational decision-making.
  • Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to site geotechnical personnel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Desirable experience supporting geotechnical studies and Stage Gate processes, including development, review, and validation of geotechnical design criteria, risk assessments, and technical recommendations.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software, engineering analysis tools, and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement scopes of work for geotechnical studies, including objectives, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain standardized geotechnical data collection processes that ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Identify geotechnical risks across operations and projects and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate and optimize ground support systems, incorporating emerging technologies and materials where appropriate.
  • Provide geotechnical input into mine planning activities, documenting design criteria and engineering analyses.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of geotechnical recommendations and refine designs based on operational performance.
  • Deliver training on geotechnical methodologies, industry best practices, and technical standards.
  • Partner closely with site technical teams to ensure compliance with geotechnical standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance geotechnical performance and risk management.
