About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Technical Services – Exploration, this role plays a key part in advancing B2Gold’s global resource portfolio by delivering high quality mineral resource models that support exploration strategy, project evaluation, drill program planning, and mine planning. Working within a collaborative corporate environment, this position will contribute technical expertise across multiple assets and jurisdictions, partnering closely with Exploration, Technical Services, Geoscience, Operations, and site management teams. The successful candidate will be a responsible and self-directed professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where there is frequent change. International and domestic travel will be required. This is a full-time position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada. The role follows our hybrid work model of four days in-office and one day remote each week.

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or relevant discipline from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining industry, including significant experience in mineral resource estimation (typically 5+ years)
  • Professional Geoscientist registered in British Columbia or another province or eligibility for registration
  • Demonstrated experience in core logging, geological interpretations, 3D modeling and mineral resource estimation
  • Experience in operating mining environments, including resource and reserve reconciliation
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Communicate effectively in English with technical teams and senior management, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. Datamine, Surpac, Micromine, Leapfrog Geo, Supervisor, MS Office Suite)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience contributing to NI 43-101 compliant resource reporting
  • Experience working with and/or managing consultants and teams directly and remotely is an asset
  • Experience with challenging jurisdictions a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop lithology, alteration, structural and mineralization models to support mineral resource estimates
  • Prepare mineral resource estimates in accordance with industry best practices, including validation of all inputs and outputs
  • Identify and communicate risks, uncertainties, and opportunities within geological and resource models
  • Coordinate with exploration teams including field staff on geological interpretations, data integrity, QA/QC, and drill hole planning
  • Support the preparation of internal and external technical reports and disclosures, including compliance with internal procedures, and relevant reporting standards and guidelines (e.g. NI 43-101 or as applicable)
  • Support the application of modifying factors and the development of resource models for mine planning purposes
  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams on mine planning and model reconciliation
  • Conduct internal peer reviews of models developed by colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Manage third-party contractors or consultants as required
  • Perform other duties as required in support of corporate and site objectives
