About The Position

The Senior Game Data Analyst will be a key contributor within our Insights Center - a multidisciplinary team that brings together Games User Research and Data Analytics under one roof. The Insights Center's core mission is to test our games, gather meaningful feedback from players, and combine the complementary strengths of user research and data analytics to surface the underlying why behind player behaviour. Together, we deliver actionable insights to our game teams and studio stakeholders that shape how our games are built. As a Senior Game Data Analyst, you will turn player data into clear, compelling stories that drive real decisions. But analytics in our studio goes beyond automated reporting and dashboarding - it's central to exploratory analysis that uncovers the behavioral and motivational drivers behind what players do in our games. Your work sits alongside user research as a complementary tool in playtests and player studies, answering quantitative questions while helping us uncover the patterns, behaviours, and attitudes that define the player experience. This is a role for someone genuinely curious about data and about players - someone who thinks in terms of narrative and insight, not just dashboards and numbers. You will partner closely with user researchers, game designers, producers, and engineers to ensure we're asking the right questions and using the right data to answer them. It's also important to understand how our team works day to day. Much of our effort goes into building internal tooling - increasingly powered by AI - that helps the broader Insights Center work more effectively. This means that working directly with player data is not a constant; it is highly dependent on our current projects, playtest schedules, and studio needs. If you're excited by variety, by building tools as much as analyzing data, and by staying at the cutting edge of how AI is reshaping analytics, you'll feel at home here. This role is open to candidates based in either Montreal or Toronto. That said, priority will be given to Montreal-based candidates, given the concentration of our analytics team there and expectations of in-office days (current rate at 3 days per week, subject to change).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Business Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the video game industry.
  • Demonstrated experience translating player behavioural data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners - designers, developers, producers, and ideally user researchers.
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of data analysis and manipulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with our core analytics stack or equivalent tools: Sigma, dbt, and Snowflake.
  • Extensive experience with data visualization and BI tools (Sigma, Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar).
  • Awareness of - and ideally hands-on experience with - AI/ML applications in analytics (LLMs for insight generation, predictive modelling, anomaly detection, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of the video game industry and production cycles is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for this role because the employee will be required to communicate regularly with colleagues and stakeholders located outside Quebec, where English is the primary language of communication between offices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with international teams and with colleagues and stakeholders for whom English is not a first language is an asset.
  • Experience with data modelling is an asset (Kimball dimensional modelling, data vault, etc.).
  • Experience with Python (or R/equivalent) is an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English, an asset for our Montreal studio environment.
  • Background working alongside UX researchers.
  • Experience working with Chinese game development teams or in a Chinese game publisher context.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics, user acquisition data, or community feedback channels.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze player data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform game design decisions and support user research initiatives - always framing your findings as part of the broader story of player behaviour.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations that communicate data insights clearly and persuasively to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • Working knowledge of data pipelines and upstream data modeling, sufficient to translate analytical needs into technical requirements, flag data quality issues, and understand how upstream pipeline decisions ripple into downstream accuracy - key to partnering effectively with Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal tooling - increasingly AI-powered - that helps both user researchers and analysts track, visualize, and analyze data from playtests more efficiently.
  • Partner with game designers, developers, and user researchers to identify the right questions and data needs from the start - then see them through the full analytics lifecycle: confirming whether the data is tracked, defining KPIs and metrics, visualizing the results, and surfacing trends, answers, and new questions worth exploring.
  • Monitor game metrics and KPIs to identify potential issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively experiment with AI tools and approaches in analytics, staying current on emerging trends and sharing what you learn with the team.
  • Look for opportunities to leverage data, tooling, and best practices to raise the quality and efficiency of the analytics function.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in game data analytics.

Benefits

  • Insurance coverage and telemedicine from day one
  • Transportation and meal allowance
  • Referral bonus
