About The Position

Realtor.com® is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join their high-performance engineering organization as a full-time, hands-on individual contributor. The engineer will be embedded within a cross-functional team owning critical segments of the consumer ecosystem. The engineering organization is structured so that each domain team owns its vertical stack end-to-end—from backend microservices and APIs through frontend and DevOps. The ideal candidate is innovative, proactive, and self-driven, actively seeking out better tools, raising quality standards, and delivering without waiting for direction. The company values self-learners who challenge the status quo, take pride in the reliability of their work, and comfortably navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment. Potential teams include New Constructions, Mortgage & Financial Services, and Rentals Post-Lead & B2B Partnerships.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and scaling distributed systems and high-traffic, consumer-facing products.
  • Proven depth across backend services, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, modern frontend frameworks (React or equivalent), and cloud/DevOps.
  • Strong experience with Node.js and microservice architectures.
  • Experience building search, marketplace, listing-based, or financial services products (e.g., loan application flows, rate calculators, lender/partner API integrations).
  • Direct ownership of production infrastructure, including observability, SLOs, and incident management.
  • Strong project management skills to independently drive features from scoping through delivery in an agile, matrixed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI-assisted development tools into your daily workflow.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS) and data pipelines (e.g., Snowflake, S3, Aurora, reverse ETL).
  • Experience deploying and operating services on AWS using Kubernetes and containerization.
  • Familiarity with federated GraphQL architecture.
  • Understanding of financial data sensitivity and compliance considerations relevant to consumer financial products (e.g., RESPA, TILA awareness).
  • Comfort working in a data- and metrics-driven engineering culture aligned with performance KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high-traffic features and partner integrations across the full vertical stack (backend, APIs, frontend, infrastructure, databases).
  • Write well-tested, production-ready code.
  • Own and enforce test automation standards (unit, integration, E2E) in line with an engineering-owned quality model.
  • Take full accountability for the operational quality, observability, and reliability of your services—including setting SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and incident response readiness.
  • Ensure data integrity, secure engineering practices, and compliance-aware design when handling sensitive consumer, financial, and high-volume marketplace data.
  • Leverage and champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Windsurf, Portkey, Gemini) to optimize development workflows.
  • Drive project delivery with strong personal ownership—managing scope, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders to build trust quickly.
