Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Go, AWS, GCP)

Viasat, Inc.•Boston, MA
•Hybrid

About The Position

Snappi, a Viasat subsidiary, is building an intelligent content delivery network that optimizes ecommerce web performance around time-to-pixel. The engineer will build and operate the platform serving global traffic, working across core infrastructure and AI-powered operations, including web performance optimization, browser technologies, and emerging standards. In a deliberately lean team, the role spans the edge proxy, ML pipeline, data collection, and operational tooling. The work is expected to reach production quickly and be measured by its impact on merchants. The position combines cloud and edge infrastructure engineering with deployment ownership, performance data analysis, self-healing production systems, and development of an autonomous agent architecture. Candidates must be based in Boston or New England. The team works in a hybrid arrangement, typically spending 2–3 days per month at the Boston office, with more onsite time expected during initial ramp-up.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software development or engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and operating backend services in production, with attention to failure modes, deployment, and operational behavior.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Ability to explain complex topics clearly and engage in technical conversations collaboratively, incorporating pushback in real time.
  • Ownership mindset, including identifying inefficiencies, considering uptime and customer impact, anticipating failure modes, and investigating problems proactively.
  • Intellectual honesty and willingness to acknowledge the limits of one's understanding.
  • Interest in using AI tools, with judgment about when to trust them and when to push back.
  • Candidates must be based in Boston or New England.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamentals in Python, Go, Rust, Java, or C/C++.
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, HTTP, and TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
  • Familiarity with web performance metrics such as LCP and CLS, edge/CDN internals, ML for real-world decision-making, or data pipelines.
  • Interdisciplinary educational background, such as combining computer science with philosophy, literature, design, or another field.
  • Systems and product thinking, including reasoning about second- and third-order effects and value for real users and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud and edge network infrastructure software across AWS and GCP; the edge runs on Go and Caddy modules on GCE.
  • Own the deployment path for built software, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability.
  • Contribute to the ML pipeline that optimizes routing, caching, and delivery decisions.
  • Work with real-user and synthetic performance data flowing through collection and analytics pipelines.
  • Build self-healing systems that detect, diagnose, and resolve production issues automatically.
  • Help build an autonomous agent architecture that can make progress unattended, be inspected and redirected, and hand off to a human or another agent.
  • Work across the edge proxy, ML pipeline, data collection, and tools for operating systems at scale.

Benefits

  • Medical, financial, and other benefits focused on holistic health and wellness may be provided depending on the position offered.
  • Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package.
