About The Position

The Atlas Applications team is seeking a versatile full stack engineer to build and integrate systems that enable Atlas to perform complex tasks in dynamic environments. The role spans the agentic autonomy stack, including third-party integrations, context engineering, observability frameworks, and user interfaces. The engineer will partner with machine learning experts, behavior engineers, and product teams to develop Atlas’ planning and reasoning system and integrate it with appropriate tools, data, and prompts.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience or a master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and integrate APIs and third-party services in complex, multi-system environments.
  • Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks such as React, backend technologies such as Python and TypeScript, and databases such as Postgres and Redis.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software architecture.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and owning problems end to end.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building LLM products and/or agentic systems, including chat UIs, prompt engineering, context window management, or tool-use orchestration.
  • Experience working with robotics systems, vision models, or real-time data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python and comfort operating across large codebases.
  • Familiarity with observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry and evaluation frameworks for AI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build Atlas’ agentic capabilities using vision-language models, tool calls, context engineering, and memory to create a flexible and performant task execution system.
  • Design, develop, and establish conventions for operator dashboards, task configuration user interfaces, and diagnostic interfaces.
  • Use observability frameworks, structured logging, and tracing infrastructure to provide visibility into system behavior and performance.
  • Develop and use evaluations and benchmarks to measure reasoning quality, safety, reliability, and generalization across tasks and environments.
  • Collaborate with agentic systems, behavior, controls, perception, and product experts to deliver end-to-end capabilities.
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand real-world use cases and ensure solutions are practical, reliable, and impactful.
  • Contribute to engineering culture through code reviews, testing, documentation, and thoughtful system design.
