About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team at John Hancock Life Insurance Company. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, delivering, maintaining, and improving business applications. You will work across the full-stack throughout the entire software development lifecycle, contributing to the creation of end-user interfaces, databases, APIs, and server-side logic. We emphasize disciplined coding practices for agility and high-quality code delivery, utilizing design patterns, automation, and third-party libraries. Your responsibilities will include conducting various tests and analyses to ensure software meets or exceeds standards, developing detailed system design specifications, creating automated test harnesses, performing investigative "spikes" to mitigate technical risks, troubleshooting errors and bugs, participating in ideation sessions for digital solutions, creating prototype designs, completing necessary documentation, and performing peer code reviews with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering or related field
  • 5 years of experience using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) 6x
  • 5 years of experience with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • 5 years of Java development experience
  • 1 year of experience troubleshooting and resolving website accessibility issues
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting and resolving performance issues
  • 1 year of Salesforce Integration experience
  • 2 years of web design experience
  • 1 year of experience using CI/DI methods
  • 1 year of database design experience

Responsibilities

  • Design end-user interfaces, databases, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and server-side logic while maintaining both front and back-end web application components
  • Apply disciplined coding practices to enable agility and delivery of high-quality code
  • Apply design patterns, automation, and semantic versioning where and when available
  • Use development frameworks and third-party libraries
  • Conduct wide range of tests and analyses to ensure software applications meet or exceed standards and end user requirements
  • Develop detailed system design specifications to serve as a guide for system/program development
  • Assist with the development of automated test harnesses to ensure delivery of high-quality code
  • Perform investigative “spikes” to mitigate technical uncertainties and risks
  • Troubleshoot errors, help resolve bugs, and improve overall efficiency of software
  • Participate in ideation and brainstorming sessions to devise creative and disruptive digital solutions
  • Create prototype designs for products using wide range of techniques
  • Complete documentation required for deployments, maintenance, support and business needs
  • Perform peer reviews of code/deliverables and analysis of continuous learning and continuous improvement
