EarthOptics is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and maintain technology that powers its products and operations. The company combines genomic analysis, data science, microbiology, and remote sensing to provide soil information that helps agricultural stakeholders increase yields, improve soil health, and support climate goals. EarthOptics has approximately 100 employees across 20 states and two countries. This is a hands-on individual-contributor and technical-leadership role on the Software Engineering team. The engineer will work across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data integrations, and cloud infrastructure; own complex systems; contribute to technical decisions and engineering practices; and develop and integrate AI-powered solutions. The role is full-time, salaried, exempt, and remote for candidates authorized to work in the United States who live in the contiguous 48 states. The company prefers candidates who can consistently align their working hours with US Central Time. Travel is 5% of the time. The target start date is December 2026, and applications are accepted through November 30, 2026. Compensation is $125,000–$165,000 annual base salary, with eligibility for a bonus program and an equity option grant. The posted salary range applies across eligible US locations; offers reflect location pay zone, skills, and experience. Visa sponsorship or transfer is not available. Within the first 60–120 days, the engineer is expected to learn the company’s applications, architecture, and cloud infrastructure; transition ownership of critical systems and identify risks; deliver a full-stack feature or enhancement; begin addressing technical debt, performance, or reliability issues; and evaluate AI development tools and recommend ways to improve engineering productivity while maintaining quality.
