  • Expert knowledge of backend Ruby on Rails software development and data engineering.
  • Experience with LLMs and advanced hands-on fluency with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code.
  • Strong systems-design skills and judgment across APIs, multi-platform distributed systems, observability, and reliability, particularly for reporting and analytics.
  • Strong SQL query-writing skills and exposure to dbt.
  • Working knowledge of OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or DynamoDB, and understanding of data warehouses or columnar databases such as Snowflake, AWS Redshift, ClickHouse, or StarRocks.
  • Experience designing and implementing large, scalable web applications, with appreciation for clean, elegant, simple code.
  • Understanding of the value and nuances of automated testing, especially in AI workflows.
  • Proven track record of mentoring other engineers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills working with remote teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical design and delivery for increasingly complex reporting requirements, including a generalized reporting platform and potential AI-enabled access to data sources that may require infrastructure and data-modeling improvements.
  • Collaborate with the product team to understand customer needs, define upcoming features, and identify and troubleshoot problems before they affect customers.
  • Write and coordinate AI agents to write clean, efficient, well-tested code that meaningfully improves the codebase, with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Drive design and execution from ideation through launch, coordinating engineers and AI agents.
