About The Position

Build production-critical systems for a medical-grade wearable technology platform where your work directly affects how researchers, clinicians, coaches, and enterprise organizations understand human physiology. This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer who can move fluidly across Go backend services, AWS infrastructure, React/TypeScript web surfaces, and mobile-adjacent work — while using AI tools as a core part of how you design, build, test, and ship. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure, backend services, web frontend, and mobile. It is not a DevOps role that occasionally touches code, and it is not a product engineering role that only dabbles in infrastructure. The right person has genuine breadth across the stack and enough depth to own meaningful work at multiple layers at once. You will join a lean, distributed U.S. engineering team building a health technology platform that spans firmware, cloud data systems, mobile and web applications, and developer-facing APIs/SDKs. The company is early in its commercial journey, moving quickly, and looking for a senior IC who can unblock important work, strengthen global-scale infrastructure, and help the team ship reliable systems in a compliance-aware environment. AI-augmented engineering is a first-class expectation. The team uses AI tools extensively across development, QA, and code review, and this role requires comfort working with LLMs, AI coding assistants, and multiple coding agents to move faster across complex or unfamiliar parts of the stack.

Requirements

  • Shipped production work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, and frontend surfaces — not just touched each area lightly.
  • Strong in Go for backend services, APIs, and systems-oriented engineering.
  • Hands-on AWS infrastructure experience across compute, storage, messaging, databases, networking, and observability.
  • Fluent with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and production reliability practices.
  • Meaningful React and TypeScript experience and can contribute to product-facing web surfaces.
  • Can contribute to iOS and Android codebases when needed, especially with AI-assisted development and strong engineering fundamentals.
  • Understand relational and NoSQL databases, messaging/event systems, API design, and high-throughput data movement.
  • Can pick up unfamiliar languages, codebases, and systems quickly without needing every tool to be your exact prior stack.
  • Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor in a lean startup environment where scope is broad and ownership is real.
  • Can manage multiple AI coding agents or LLM-assisted workflows to accelerate implementation, QA, and code review.
  • Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly and keep complex cross-functional work organized without trying to take over areas already owned by teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health tech, wearables, biometric data, IoT, or device-connected software.
  • Background working with HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, or other compliance-aware engineering environments.
  • Experience with AI/ML platform infrastructure, MCP servers, model-facing backend systems, or AI-assisted developer workflows.
  • Developer-facing platform experience, including SDKs, external APIs, enterprise integrations, or partner-facing APIs.
  • Experience with high-throughput data upload, ingestion, processing, or analytics systems.
  • Prior senior IC experience at a high-scale technology company, or experience returning to hands-on engineering after a management role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, ship, and maintain Go-based backend services, REST and gRPC APIs, async workers, and data pipelines.
  • Build and attach APIs for platform capabilities, partner algorithms, and client-specific functionality.
  • Understand how high-volume wearable data moves through the system, into algorithms, out through outputs, and into product-facing surfaces.
  • Improve data models, backend tables, ingestion paths, and service interfaces that support biometric features and platform reliability.
  • Own and evolve AWS infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, messaging, databases, load balancing, and observability.
  • Work with AWS services such as S3, Aurora, ElastiCache, SQS, CloudWatch, load balancers, and autoscaling groups.
  • Use infrastructure-as-code practices to improve reliability, cost, scalability, deployment safety, and operational clarity.
  • Help the platform scale as the company expands usage across customers, partners, and geographies.
  • Build, extend, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across staging and production environments.
  • Improve zero-downtime deployment systems, autoscaling configurations, environment management, and release workflows.
  • Strengthen testing, monitoring, and rollback patterns so engineers can ship quickly without compromising reliability.
  • Contribute to React and TypeScript web dashboard work used by enterprise clients and internal teams.
  • Support iOS and Android surfaces as needed, including Swift and Kotlin codebases.
  • Use AI-assisted development and strong systems fundamentals to contribute effectively even when a surface is not your primary specialty.
  • Contribute to security posture, authentication systems, access control, audit logging, and compliance-aware engineering.
  • Work within established HIPAA, SOC 2, and privacy-conscious engineering practices.
  • Build simple, testable, maintainable systems that can be trusted in a health technology environment.
  • Coordinate across backend, frontend, mobile, infrastructure, and product workstreams.
  • Translate partner algorithm requirements into platform implementation paths across data flows, APIs, web, Android, and iOS.
  • Respect existing ownership across the engineering team while helping unblock work and move complex multi-layer projects forward.

Benefits

  • Earn a $175,000 base salary, with final compensation dependent on experience, skill level, and assessment performance.
