About The Position

Linktree is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Auth team, which owns authentication for more than 70 million people. The role covers the login and signup experiences, the services and APIs behind them, session and token lifecycle, and observability for authentication issues. The engineer will work hands-on with TypeScript, Node.js, React, and AWS, partnering with Product, Security, and platform teams to improve security and user experience.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Full-stack skills across TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and AWS, with the ability to deliver features across layers.
  • Working knowledge of authentication and identity fundamentals, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWTs, session management, MFA, and common attack classes.
  • Experience safely shipping changes to a high-traffic, critical-path system, including feature flags, staged rollouts, migrations, and backward compatibility.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools, including prompting, validating, and refining their output.
  • Ability to balance security and user experience and communicate trade-offs with Product and Security.
  • Clear communication and ability to work with product, design, and security partners across Melbourne, Sydney, and other time zones.
  • Ability to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office on a hybrid basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on an authentication, identity, platform, or payments-adjacent team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship authentication and identity experiences, including signup, login, social authentication, account recovery, and multi-factor authentication.
  • Own authentication services end-to-end, including session and token lifecycle, revocation, rate limiting, and APIs used by other squads.
  • Partner with Security to strengthen the authentication surface and with Product to balance friction and improve login conversion.
  • Extend identity and access capabilities for business accounts and Workspaces, including the path toward SSO.
  • Maintain observability through instrumentation, alerting, and dashboards that identify authentication failures.
  • Use AI in development to accelerate migrations, testing, and investigations.
  • Raise engineering standards through code review, pairing, and documentation, and mentor engineers as the Auth team grows.

Benefits

  • Annual wellbeing allowance, which may be used for fitness memberships, development courses, childcare, travel, charitable donations, pet insurance, or home office setup.
  • For US-based employees, 100% coverage of monthly medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance premiums for employees and 80% coverage for dependents.
  • Employer contribution toward retirement.
  • Generous time off for vacation, holidays, parental leave, volunteer time, and other categories.
  • Employee stock option program.
