Senior Full-Stack Engineer

ProphixEtobicoke, ON
CA$145,000 - CA$165,000Hybrid

About The Position

As a Senior Engineer on the FP&A Plus platform, you will design, build, and maintain the modular .NET capabilities that more than 2,500 finance teams around the world rely on every day for budgeting, reporting, and integrated financial planning. Working within a collaborative agile team alongside engineers, product managers, and QA specialists, you will own meaningful slices of a large, domain-driven modular-monolith — shipping high-quality, testable code that directly shapes how finance professionals plan and make decisions. This is a role for an engineer who takes pride in correctness, cares about architecture, and wants their work to matter at scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade distributed applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET/Core, with hands-on experience using PostgreSQL and Entity Framework (or a comparable ORM/data-access pattern).
  • Demonstrated expertise in microservices or modular-monolith architectures and domain-driven design patterns.
  • Cloud-native AWS experience with services including Lambda, SQS, Aurora Serverless (PostgreSQL), and S3.
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments for developing and managing complex distributed systems.
  • Solid command of Git source control and continuous integration tooling.
  • Practiced in unit and integration testing with an agile and test-driven development mindset.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the country where this role is located
  • Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to support tasks such as research, drafting, and data review
  • Able to learn new tools and adapt as technology and workflows evolve.
  • Curious, open to new approaches, and motivated to continuously improve.
  • Collaborative mindset when working across teams and with AI supported tooling.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating PostgreSQL on a serverless or auto-scaling managed offering such as AWS Aurora Serverless at production scale.
  • Exposure to OLAP or multi-dimensional data models, and/or event-driven architecture (message queues, pub/sub) beyond basic usage.
  • Understanding of identity and access management principles including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, SSO, and MFA.
  • Experience building or consuming LLM/agent tooling (MCP or comparable) — an emerging and actively growing area of the Prophix platform.
  • Academic or practical knowledge of corporate financial concepts such as planning, budgeting, forecasting, or consolidation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build new features within one or more FP&A Plus bounded-context modules (budgeting, workflow, reporting, journal management, data import, and more), following established Abstractions / implementation / UnitOfWork / UnitTests patterns.
  • Write efficient, correct data-access code against AWS Aurora Serverless (PostgreSQL), applying a clear understanding of its auto-scaling capacity model, connection-pooling behaviour, and timeout semantics rather than assuming fixed-capacity database behaviour.
  • Build and consume event-driven integrations using AWS SQS via MassTransit and scheduled workflows via Quartz.NET as part of cross-module feature delivery.
  • Apply the platform's module-flag-based authorization model correctly when building new endpoints or MCP tools that interact with tenant data.
  • Ensure quality through automated testing with xUnit, Moq, and FluentAssertions in a continuous integration environment, including integration tests tagged for the DB-integration test suite where appropriate.
  • Investigate and resolve defects across pre-production, production, and post-release patches with thorough root-cause analysis rather than surface-level fixes.
  • Contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and performance tuning of data-heavy operations within your module area.
  • Coordinate cross-module technical dependencies, clearly defining and respecting cross-module contracts in a large, distributed modular system.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-health coverage
  • Retirement savings with employer contributions
  • Parental leave top-up
  • Annual wellness allowance
  • Generous paid time off including vacation and sick time
  • Education assistance and tuition reimbursement
  • Social events, team activities, and opportunities to build community
  • Opportunities to participate in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives
  • Quarterly Town Halls and Kickoffs that bring teams together to celebrate wins, share updates, and look ahead at what’s next
