Senior Full Stack Developer

Colorado RockiesDenver, CO
$140,000 - $170,000Onsite

About The Position

This is an exciting time to join the Colorado Rockies as we continue to evolve how technology, data, and baseball expertise come together across Baseball Operations. Baseball Systems is helping build the tools and infrastructure that will support the organization’s next chapter, turning data, scouting insights, and organizational knowledge into intuitive applications that help our people evaluate talent, develop players, identify opportunities, and make informed baseball decisions. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you won’t simply maintain existing systems, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape what comes next. You’ll design and build the internal web applications that serve scouting, player development, player acquisition, and research, owning features end to end, from data access and backend services through to the interfaces our staff rely on every day. You’ll work directly with scouts, analysts, developers, and Baseball Operations leaders to solve meaningful problems, modernize how information is used across the organization, and build technology that can have a lasting impact on how we make baseball decisions. In addition to hands-on development responsibilities, the Senior Full Stack Developer will provide technical leadership by shaping architecture and design decisions, establishing engineering best practices, improving system reliability, and mentoring other engineers. This is an individual-contributor role with meaningful technical leadership and mentorship scope, not a people-management position.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of software development experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated capability.
  • Significant experience building and maintaining production web applications across the full stack, including both backend services and user-facing interfaces.
  • Strong proficiency in a typed language such as TypeScript, with solid command of a modern component-based front-end framework (such as Svelte, React, or Vue) and core front-end fundamentals including HTML and CSS.
  • Experience designing and building backend services and APIs.
  • Advanced SQL and experience working with relational databases and modern ORMs.
  • Experience designing scalable, maintainable application architecture and evaluating technical tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with automated testing across the stack, including unit and end-to-end tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership through architecture and design decisions, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentorship.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with baseball data and Baseball Operations workflows, such as scouting, player development, player acquisition, or research.
  • Experience building data-rich user interfaces and statistical visualizations, preferably with baseball data.
  • Experience with a full-stack or server-side rendering framework, such as SvelteKit, Next.js, or similar.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with containerized development using Docker.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, completion of an immersive technical program, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools responsibly as part of a modern engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain the internal web applications that serve scouting, player development, player acquisition, and research across Baseball Operations, owning features across the full stack from data to interface.
  • Develop and maintain the backend services, APIs, and data access that power the application, alongside the user interfaces built on top of them.
  • Build intuitive, reliable experiences for technical and non-technical users alike, following the product direction set by Baseball Systems.
  • Integrate a wide range of data sources and formats to aggregate, model, and visualize statistical and qualitative information.
  • Design scalable, maintainable application architecture, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and help guide the evolution of our platform and tooling.
  • Develop resilient, well-tested code and maintain existing applications as requirements change or issues arise.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices related to code quality, documentation, testing, version control, and maintainability.
  • Partner with analysts, developers, and Baseball Operations stakeholders to translate business needs into effective software solutions.
  • Mentor other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, project support, and skill development.
