About The Position

Sago Mini is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to play a leading technical role on their Web Store team. This position will drive the development of a new Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) web channel, focusing on building and enhancing scalable web store services that complement the existing App Store subscription infrastructure. The role is ideal for a senior candidate with strong technical skills who enjoys collaborating in cross-functional teams to support product and marketing initiatives. This is a 6-month contract position requiring 35-40 hours per week, with flexibility for remote work across Canada or a hybrid arrangement in Toronto. Both options require adherence to core hours of 10 am-5 pm EST/EDT. The anticipated salary range is $65 to $85 per hour, dependent on factors such as experience and education.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AI-powered software engineering, including embedding AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex) into daily workflows for development acceleration, code quality improvement, and task automation.
  • Senior-level full-stack experience (5+ years) in building, scaling, and maintaining complex web applications and services from concept to launch.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript for both frontend and backend development.
  • Hands-on experience building backend services with JavaScript-based frameworks (e.g., NestJS, Express).
  • Experience designing schemas with PostgreSQL.
  • Extensive experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Vue).
  • Strong understanding of server-side rendering, state management, responsive design, and web performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for product and design partners and build trust within a shared-service team.

Nice To Haves

  • E-commerce and subscription domain knowledge, including experience building or integrating e-commerce storefronts, payment processing systems, and subscription billing lifecycles.
  • Cloud infrastructure experience, including deploying and running web services in the cloud (AWS).
  • Solid grasp of modern open-source stacks and SaaS development tools (testing, monitoring, CI/CD).
  • Ability to thrive in an autonomous environment as a contractor, taking ambiguous requirements, asking clarifying questions, and delivering shipped features quickly and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the execution of a new web store initiative, serving as the lead technical contributor for the Piknik subscription plan's new web storefront.
  • Build major components from payment integration to analytics, ensuring features are fast, responsive, and highly secure.
  • Develop both user-facing frontend elements and backend services for authentication, account management, and subscription routing.
  • Architect and build secure, scalable integrations with third-party payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, GTM) and internal subscription management services.
  • Collaborate closely with the Web Platform team, including the Engineering Manager and platform developers, participating in sprints, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Prioritize simple, scalable solutions, evaluating technical trade-offs daily, with a focus on payment security and data integrity.
  • Ensure quality and reliability by writing clean, testable code, implementing monitoring, and utilizing CI/CD pipelines for deployments to AWS infrastructure.
