About The Position

The Portfolio team within Coinbase’s Consumer & Business group owns the balances, holdings, and profit-and-loss experiences used by millions of Coinbase customers. The Senior Frontend Engineer will turn complex, real-time financial data into clear experiences for users ranging from first-time buyers to sophisticated traders. The role covers web experiences built with React and TypeScript and native mobile experiences on iOS and Android. Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Requirements

At least 5 years of frontend engineering experience building consumer-facing web applications with high-quality, well-tested production code.
Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, with strong command of modern frontend fundamentals, including state management, rendering performance, and accessibility.
Track record of shipping and owning complex features end-to-end in production; experience in financial, trading, or other data-intensive applications where accuracy and latency matter is ideal.
Experience building real-time or high-throughput UIs and integrating with backend APIs such as REST or GraphQL.
Experience collaborating with design and product partners to shape product outcomes.
Use generative AI responsibly, with human oversight, to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

Own the design and delivery of core Portfolio experiences, including balances, holdings, and profit and loss, across web and native mobile.
Build performant, accessible, pixel-accurate UI that renders real-time financial data at Coinbase scale.
Partner with backend, design, and product teams to take ambiguous problems from scoping through production rollout.
Drive frontend architecture and quality, including component reuse, state management, testing, and performance instrumentation.
Strengthen the team’s engineering bar through code reviews, technical mentorship, and documented architecture decisions.
