Senior Frontend Engineer - Contractor/Freelancer
About The Position
As a Senior Frontend Developer (Contractor/Freelancer) at Beyond Sports, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, performant, and engaging frontend solutions to sports fans and partners worldwide. Working alongside a cross-functional team, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining responsive web applications using modern frontend technologies and best practices. This role is delivery-focused, suited for a self-driven contractor who thrives on writing clean, scalable code, solving complex problems, and delivering against clearly defined requirements. You’ll work closely with designers, backend developers, and project managers to ensure that deliverables meet expectations and deadlines.
Requirements
- Expert-level knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles
- Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (vanilla)
- Expert-level knowledge of React
- Expert-level knowledge of SASS development
- Expert-level knowledge of JSON and RESTful APIs
- Expert-level knowledge of Gulp workflows
- Expert-level knowledge of Git and version control best practices
- Expert-level knowledge of Cross-browser/device testing and debugging
- Expert-level knowledge of working with design files and translating them into code (e.g. Figma, Sketch)
- Expert-level knowledge of Frontend performance tuning and optimization
- Expert-level knowledge of writing clean, readable documentation for frontend solutions
- Comfortable with ES6/ES7 features
- Comfortable with integrating third-party tools and SDKs (e.g. video providers)
- Comfortable with NPM and Bower for dependency management
- Comfortable with Web accessibility (a11y) best practices
- Comfortable with SEO best practices for frontend builds
- Comfortable with JIRA or similar tools for task tracking
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes for frontend deployment
- Understanding of frontend architecture patterns and modular development
Responsibilities
- Translate project requirements and designs into functional, maintainable frontend code
- Scope, estimate, and manage your own tasks to meet agreed timelines
- Integrate with backend APIs and third-party services
- Produce high-quality, reusable code with attention to maintainability and performance
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility through rigorous testing and debugging
- Implement responsive UI/UX using HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript (vanilla)
- Use Gulp workflows and Git version control effectively within a collaborative codebase
- Collaborate with the wider delivery team to ensure alignment on goals and timelines
- Proactively identify and resolve frontend issues or technical blockers
- Document frontend solutions to support ongoing maintenance and handovers
