Senior Front-End Developer

JobberEdmonton, AB
CA$121,000 - CA$163,600Hybrid

About The Position

Jobber is seeking a Senior Front-End Developer, ideally with full-stack experience, to join their team. The role involves building modern Jamstack projects, contributing to the company's website (getjobber.com) which is a key growth engine. The developer will work with technologies such as Next.js, Sanity, React, and TypeScript within a headless/composable architecture. Responsibilities include developing new pages, running an experimentation program, extending a UI library, and integrating with a headless CMS and its APIs. The position is a senior individual-contributor role focused on technical influence, setting patterns, and mentoring other developers. A significant aspect of the role involves embracing and advancing AI-assisted development, including using AI coding agents and optimizing AI workflows. The developer will also collaborate with product engineers and partner with the Engineering Manager on standards and code quality.

Requirements

  • Deep front-end expertise: Expert command of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, accessibility, and web performance.
  • Several years building production applications.
  • Strong Next.js and React experience, including modern rendering, component architecture, and tooling.
  • Back-end familiarity: comfortable working beyond the front end, building and integrating APIs and services, and reasoning about systems.
  • Headless CMS experience: built content-driven sites and understand how to model, integrate, and ship content at scale.
  • Hands-on AI-assisted development: actively use AI coding tools and have a point of view on their use.
  • A growth and experimentation mindset: comfortable building for measurement and iteration, and care about business outcomes.
  • Technical leadership without ego: set standards and mentor others while staying collaborative.
  • Strong communication skills: collaborate easily with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Ambitious and humble: push for better, newer, more innovative approaches while staying grounded.
  • Comfort in the grey areas: adaptable, can prioritize amid ambiguity, and break down complex problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with client-side and feature-flag experimentation platforms (e.g. Optimizely, Kameleoon, Adobe Target) and analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, GA360).
  • Experience working within a design system or maintaining a shared component library.
  • Experience collaborating with product engineering teams across shared systems.
  • Experience collaborating closely with designers in Figma.

Responsibilities

  • Build on a modern front-end stack using Next.js, Sanity, and React with TypeScript.
  • Ship production features for getjobber.com, including marketing pages, feature pages, and conversion-critical surfaces.
  • Contribute to and extend the shared component library and design system.
  • Own performance and accessibility as first-class requirements, focusing on Core Web Vitals, semantic markup, and fast page loads.
  • Work across the stack on a content-driven site, integrating with a headless CMS and building/consuming APIs and services.
  • Write well-tested, scalable, and well-organized code, and drive consistent engineering practices through code review.
  • Collaborate with other developers on best technical practices and project decisions.
  • Push the AI-assisted workflow forward by using AI coding tools and agents fluently.
  • Improve how the team works with AI, building and refining MCP integrations, prompts, and context.
  • Help define and benchmark team standards for AI-assisted development.
  • Build and ship A/B and multivariate experiments quickly, partnering with CRO and product stakeholders.
  • Engineer for velocity to reduce friction between test ideas and live experiments.
  • Support SEO, LLM, and AI-search initiatives with technical foundations.
  • Set patterns and technical direction for how the team builds.
  • Mentor and coach other front-end developers.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager on technical standards, code quality, and architecture.
  • Interface with engineers on the Product team to align on patterns, integrations, and handoffs.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve the stack, tooling, and processes.
  • Maintain strong team documentation.
