General Dynamics Mission Systems has an opening for a Senior Advanced FPGA Engineer in Bloomington, MN. This role is responsible for the definition, design, verification, and documentation for FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) developments. The engineer will determine architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approaches, define module interfaces, and manage all aspects of device design and simulation. Responsibilities include evaluating the process flow (high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization), creating and verifying test and simulation plans, and analyzing performance. The role may also involve reviewing vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools. The engineer will contribute to the generation and maintenance of work products for internal and external customers, and present requirements, concepts, designs, decisions, and results to various stakeholders. Additionally, the position may involve technical subcontract management, including SOW development, proposal evaluation, and technical oversight. The engineer will apply a strong understanding of organizational processes, participate in FPGA process improvements, and support the generation of technical engineering products. Key tasks include leading research and analysis of data to determine design feasibility, selecting components based on specifications and reliability, contributing to technical proposals, and providing leadership to lower-level employees and technical tasks for small teams or projects. The role requires exercising latitude in determining technical objectives and guiding the completion of major programs and projects.
