  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant FPGA design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering efforts or technical domains.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and take full ownership of deliverables.
  • Proficiency with VHDL and (System) Verilog.
  • Experience with AMD, Altera, Lattice, and Microchip FPGAs, SoCs, and RFSoCs.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, validation, and debugging using standard laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as TCL and Python.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and cost efficiency; ability to identify appropriate use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Embedded Linux.
  • Experience with schematic and PCB layout tools.
  • Experience with low-level software development in C/C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop FPGA projects for SBCs, FPGA/DSP carrier boards, and I/O products in accordance with established development processes.
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to develop derived requirements for circuit-board designs.
  • Design FPGA solutions using components from vendors including AMD, Microchip, Lattice, and Altera.
  • Support digital circuit design involving Intel and ARM processors, DDR memory, FPGAs, MPSoCs, and RFSoCs.
  • Implement high-speed digital interfaces, including DDR4/5, PCIe, multi-Gigabit Ethernet, and JESD204B/C.
  • Simulate FPGA design components before hardware deployment.
  • Select components to meet electrical, functional, ruggedization, and reliability requirements.
  • Adapt approaches in response to customer feedback and test results.
  • Perform initial board bring-up and testing.
  • Perform verification and validation testing, including regression testing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support existing products through technical and lifecycle changes and updates; troubleshoot and debug issues found during validation or after release.
  • Prepare source, binary, and documentation files for manufacturing.
  • Design power systems to meet noise, performance, and size goals.
  • Release final products into production and support the project manager in closing internal process deliverables.
  • Promote compliance with Abaco Engineering processes and standards, develop and support best practices, and improve process efficiency.
