Senior Forecast Modeling Analyst
About The Position
The Senior Forecast Modeling Analyst provides forecast and risk assessments of weather, load, wind, and solar generation to support control room operations and situational awareness, including unit commitment and operations under extreme conditions. The analyst interprets relevant data to determine impacts on load, wind, solar generation, and outages, and analyzes risks and uncertainties to present risks and mitigation plans to management and forecast customers. The role also contributes to developing and improving forecasting methodologies related to large and non-conforming loads. Success includes communicating effectively with peers and cohorts, maintaining a collaborative environment, identifying and quantifying risk to support unit commitment decisions, and translating complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Seven or more years of experience evaluating and interpreting data to formulate short- and medium-range load forecasts for the bulk electric system.
- In-depth knowledge of the energy industry within an operations environment.
- Ability to identify risk and quantify uncertainty related to load forecasting and renewable generation resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
