About The Position

The group exercise instructor must be high energy, motivating and a relationship builder who will help people reach their goals through exercise while having fun. This position is specifically for Senior Fitness or Silversneakers instructors only.

Requirements

• Appropriate certifications for classes taught
• CPR/FA/AED/02 (ASHI) required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• Other certifications as required by the Y
• Instructor experience preferred
• Strong communication and social media skills
• Knowledge and understanding of YMCA mission and philosophy preferred

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Creates a welcoming class environment for all fitness levels and encourages and motivates class members.
• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.
• Attends required training sessions, workshops and staff meetings.
• Participates in master classes, fundraising and other special events.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
