Senior Firmware Engineer - ESAD

About The Position

The Firmware Team at Anduril develops core technology used across multiple products such as as Barracuda, Dive-LD, Altius, and Roadrunner. We work in close coordination with Electrical Engineering to develop hardware and software solutions to some of the hardest problems facing our customers. We are seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to develop low-level embedded software and build the tests that verify it works. You'll update requirements, write the code, and write the tests to prove the code. If you care deeply about writing clean, verifiable embedded C and you want to see your work fielded on real platforms in months, this is the role.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 4+ years of firmware/embedded software development experience
  • Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing test procedures for embedded firmware
  • Solid understanding of coding best practices, board bring-up, and debugging
  • Experience with common bus protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with requirements generation and linking requirements to verification tests
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
  • Experience developing firmware for high-reliability or safety-critical applications
  • Experience building automated test frameworks or test harnesses for embedded systems
  • Understanding of requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS)
  • Comfortable with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation
  • Experience as the firmware technical lead on fast-paced, cross-functional projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop low-level firmware in C for microcontrollers across multiple product platforms
  • Design, develop, and document test procedures that verify firmware behavior against requirements
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues that span the electrical, firmware, and software boundaries
  • Support board bring-up and hardware-firmware integration alongside cross-functional teams
  • Maintain requirements traceability to ensure every requirement has a corresponding test
  • Concurrently manage involvement in multiple projects at various stages from prototype through production
